As was noted in an earlier post, the Association has an expanding collection of lawsuits. Seems to be the Board’s hobby. And like collecting baseball cards, surely they have their favorites. What’s yours?

Can you please post total cost paid out of our association from any and all court fees in the last 3 years or more. Thank you.

Surprisingly you ask. As recent as last month, I made a request on two separate occasions (via e-mail, visit to the management office) to inspect any/all invoices related to legal fees as reported on the December 2014 Financial Statement. My request was denied. This is in violation of Chicago Municipal Code 13-72-080 Examination of records by unit owners. “No person shall fail to allow unit owners to inspect the financial books and records of the condominium association within ten business days of the time written request for examination of the records is received.” Additionally, the management office has the habit of quoting in their response and using the services of our Attorneys against the Homeowners that pay them.

Weren’t we promised transparency in regards to these issues? Hopefully our concerns will be addressed soon.
